Discover the classical guitar with Sara Rütten

Biography

After one of her first guitar lessons Sara Rütten (1998) was given the homework assignment to find the most beautiful note on the guitar. The next lesson she came back with the solution: it was the C#. Since then she has realised that every note can be the most beautiful and she never stopped searching for all of the different sounds of the guitar.

She got this assignment from Peter Thissem her first guitar teacher. At the age of 8 years old she started her guitarlessons under his tutilage at the Centre for the Arts in Eindhoven. After seven years of lessons with Peter Thissen, she took one year of lessons with Frank Lamm. After this she went to the Sweelinck Academy at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam where she continued her lessons with Lex Eisenhardt. At the Conservatorium van Amsterdam Sara finished her bachelor classical guitar. Her teachers were Johannes Möller in the first year and Gabriel Bianco in the three following years. To complete her education she did a masters in classical guitar with guitarist Łukasz Kuropaczewski at the Akademia Muzyczna im. Ignacego Jana Paderewskiego in Poznań, Poland.

In the meantime Sara took part in festivals, masterclasses and competitions. With highlights such as the third prize in the youth category of the international guitar festival José Tomás in Spanish town of Petrer en a place in the finals of the international guitar competition in Polands Krynica-Zdrój. She also took masterclasses with renowned guitarists such as Judicaël Perroy, David Russell, Aniello Desiderio and Sabrina Vlaškalić.

Now she is ready to show her audience all of the beauty the guitar has to offer. In her concerts Sara takes the listener along a journey through different musical styles and composers. From the romantic music of Giulio Regondi, to the virtuosic Spanish music of Francisco Tárrega, until the Tango Nuevo of Astor Piazzolla.

Sara is secretary for the European Guitar Teachers’ Association in the Netherlands. She works as a guitar teacher at C. and at the Hillegomse Muziekschool.
