Biography

With a warm, powerful sound and a great feel for dynamics Dutch guitarist Sara Rütten (1998) performs the most lyrical pieces from the guitar repertoire.

She started guitar lessons at eight years old with Peter Thissen at the Centre for the Arts Eindhoven. After continuing her lessons with Frank Lamm, Lex Eisenhardt and Johannes Möller she achieved her bachelor with Gabriel Bianco at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Subsequently she completed her masters with Łukasz Kuropaczewski at the Akademia Muzyczna im. Ignacego Jana Paderewskiego in Poznań, Poland. For this study she received a scholarship from the Cultuurfonds.

In addition Sara took part in many festivals, masterclasses and competitions. She won the third prize at the youth competitions of the Festival Internacional de Guitarra José Tomás Villa de Petrer in Spain and had masterclasses with renowned guitarists such as Judicaël Perroy, David Russell, Aniello Desiderio and Sabrina Vlaškalić.

She plays on a guitar built by the Italian luthier Andrea Tacchi.

Sara is secretary for the Dutch division of the European Guitar Teachers’ Association. She works as a guitar teacher at C. and at the Hillegomse Muziekschool.
